3 Top, Online, Webinar Services Compared
Filed Under Main, Videos | Leave a Comment
Jim Edwards and Chris Zavadowski have released a decent video comparing the three, most visible webinar services currently available. They are, GoToMeeting, Webex, and Adobe Connect Pro. The vid does a fair job assessing the costs and available features of each, but understandably leaves a lot of information outside this presentation. Frankly, I’ve used all three and find, as with any software application, there is never one that does it all, does it perfectly, and is priced for every market. So, if you’ve ever thought about doing a webinar, I highly encourage you to do so, just be sure to do your own due dilligence before deciding which of the top three services is right for you.Oct

Doerr’s 10 Tips for Start-ups
Filed Under Main, Videos | Leave a Comment
Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers’ own VC, John Doerr, presented his 10 Tips for Start-Ups at VentureBeat’s four-hour, roundtable conference at the Stanford Park Hotel, Palo Alto, CA, on 10/29/08. Intended to provide context and advice for start-up CEOs and founders facing the recession , its panel of nine included names such as PayPal co-founder, Max Levchin, and early Google VC, Ram Shriram. Condensed, Doerr’s tips included:
- Act now!
- Protect the vital core of your business. Use a scalpel instead of an ax.
- Get 18 mos or more of cash in the biz against a conservative revenue broadcast.
- Defer any facilities expansions and be frugal in captial expenditures.
– instead of buying more PCs and software, use web-based technologies
– reprioritize all - Negotiate with vendors / others.
- Everyone in organization should be selling.
- Offer equity instead of cash when dealing with bonuses.
- Pay attention to where your cash is.
– put it in most secure instruments
– consider treasuries - For revenue planning, use leading indicators.
- Over-communicate.

Donny Deutsch, host of CNBC’s “The Big Idea,” and Chairman of Top Ad Agency in NYC, joins Meredith Vieira on the Today Show, and talks about the impact of Stealth Viral Videos. Although the impact can reach across all demographics, virial videos are ideal if your target audience is young. This YouTube generation enjoys the raw, editorial, entertaining, and often amiturish feel of these “smart” videos, and overlooks the fact that they are being “sold” a produt when the segment is smartly done.

Filed Under Internet, Videos, legal issues | Leave a Comment
YouTuber, Philip DeFranco gained national attention this week from media outlets that included MSNBC, CNN, and the NYTimes, when he commented on Viacom’s July 1, 2008 victory over Google in New York’s Federal District Court. With over 163,500 subscribers to his daily internet TV show, this 22 year old powerhouse astutely said what the vast majority of us already thought about the decision, and its impact on internet user privacy… that it makes us angry!
Known as sxephil, Philip’s channel views are quickly approaching 4.2 million, due, in part, to his smart, cross-generational commentary on issues of the day. A regular on YouTube’s Most Viewed list, DeFranco has reason to be envied by internet marketers around the world who dream of a following like his. He’s on this Zoner’s to-be-watched list!
