The New York City Meetup group, NYVideo 2.0, held its June 25 event at Columbia University’s Webster Hall for a special town hall style meeting with some of NY’s top Internet TV innovators. YouTuber, Philip DeFranco gained national attention this week from media outlets that included MSNBC, CNN, and the NYTimes, when he commented on Viacom’s July 1, 2008 victory over Google in New York’s Federal District Court. With over 163,500 subscribers to his daily internet TV show, this 22 year old powerhouse astutely said what the vast majority of us already thought about the decision, and its impact on internet user privacy… that it makes us angry!

Known as sxephil, Philip’s channel views are quickly approaching 4.2 million, due, in part, to his smart, cross-generational commentary on issues of the day. A regular on YouTube’s Most Viewed list, DeFranco has reason to be envied by internet marketers around the world who dream of a following like his. He’s on this Zoner’s to-be-watched list!
